Lake Accotink Park

Lake Accontink Park is by far one of the most popular parks in Springfield, with over 1,800 positive Google reviews. This forested park surrounds Lake Accotink and is almost 500 acres.

Lake Accotink Park features:

  • Canoeing, paddleboarding, and kayaking
  • A 4-mile hiking trail
  • Sightseeing
  • Waterfalls

Brookfield Park

If you’re looking for a smaller park with a “hidden gem” feel, check out Brookfield Park. The wildlife and scenery are gorgeous at this park, and there are lots of different little areas to explore and take in nature.

Lake Mercer Park

Lake Mercer Park is absolutely stunning in the fall, with gorgeous trees surrounding the lake and trail. The trail wraps around the lake, and although it isn’t a huge lake, the sights are wonderful. The lake feels very hidden and secluded, so you really get a chance to relax and enjoy nature.

Visitors’ only complaint at Lake Mercer Park is that parking can be limited, so try to carpool if you’re going in a group.

Although it’s a bit outside of Springfield, Fountainhead Regional Park is a large park with lots to enjoy. The park features a lake where visitors can canoe, kayak, or paddleboard! Also, because of the proximity to the river and lake, this park is great for fishing. Some of the main features at Fountainhead include:

  • Swimming
  • Fishing
  • Hiking

Franconia Park

Franconia Park stands out because of its large, well-maintained fields! This park is host to tons of local sporting events and tournaments, but it’s also surrounded by a forested area as well as a few walking trails.

Although Armistead Booth Park isn’t known for sightseeing, it’s a popular destination for families and worth a visit!
